Break Every Chain

DAY 3 OF 3

Break the Routine of Unbelief and Continual Backsliding

And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. —MATTHEW 13:58

Unbelief will keep you from operating in the miraculous. Jesus could not move in the power of God and the disciples could not cast out a strong man—all because of unbelief (Matt. 13:58; Matt. 17:14-21). This is why it is important to drive doubt and unbelief from your life.

If you lack stable faith, you become double-minded—two opinions, two wars working inside you. These opinions can become two distinct personalities, and though you (your real personality) know you should have faith, faith will not be producing fruit in your life, as wavering will cause you to be tossed to and fro. This is why James 4:8 says those who are double-minded need their hearts purified. As our hearts are purified through repentance and deliverance, we grow to love God’s Word. Meditating on God’s Word builds faith and drives out unbelief. There is another danger of unbelief. Hebrews 10:38 says, “Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”

When you accept Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and submit your life to His authority, you are under a new covenant. But when you reject Christ and His sacrifice, you reject His new covenant and the blessing of peace that come with it. In Luke 19:41–42, Jesus cried over Jerusalem because He knew that if they rejected Him, they would not experience peace but rather the sword.

Break the chains of double-mindedness and unbelief, end chronic cycles of backsliding through repentance, and renew your commitment to Christ so you can walk in the fullness of God’s blessing, peace, and prosperity.

Stay focused on God. Repent to renew your life through Christ.

Lord, I repent in dust and ashes (Job 42:6). I repent for my wickedness and pray that the thoughts of my heart be forgiven me (Acts 8:22). Thank You, Lord, that my sins have been blotted out and times of refreshing have come from Your presence, because I have repented and been converted (Acts 3:19).

Lord, I repent, that Your mighty works will be done in me (Matt. 11:20). I will be zealous and repent because You love me and chasten me (Rev. 3:19). I will turn to God and do the works befitting repentance (Acts 26:20). I repent now for You will not always overlook my ignorance (Acts 17:30).

The Assyrian will not be my king, because I willingly repent (Hosea 11:5). I repent and believe in the gospel (Mark 1:1). I repent now of my evil way and evil doings that I may dwell in the land that the Lord has given to me and my fathers forever (Jer. 25:5). I repent, Lord, and turn away from my idols and all my abominations (Ezek. 14:6).

Do not judge me, O Lord. I repent and turn from all my transgressions so that iniquity will not be my ruin (Ezek. 18:30). I repent and make supplication to You, Lord, saying, “I have sinned and done wrong. I have committed wickedness” (1 Kings 8:47). I repent before God and remain faithful toward my Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21).
