Christ In Us
Emergency lights are there for a reason: when you are flying in a plane or in the cinema watching a movie, you will notice the emergency lighting strips on the ground that illuminate the paths leading to safety. The sole purpose of these lights is to grab people’s attention and direct them out of the dark.
One word that really stands out for me in Matthew 5:16 is the word “see.”
Light cannot be heard, but can be seen from miles away. What this verse tells me is that the Holy Spirit is more than capable of working through you and I. He reveals Himself, seen through us, before we even open our mouths and begin to speak. It is the way we live that reveals Christ. Our daily actions carry far more weight than our words. We light up the world not just by what we say, but by what we live.
Colossians 1:27 says that the mystery has been revealed - Christ in us, the hope of glory! I see it like this: the world's hope of seeing, meeting and encountering Jesus is hinged on Christ revealing Himself through us. Christ in us is the light of the world.
We get to show this world what they are missing. We get to show them what it looks like to love one another, to live with purpose, to understand and walk in identity, to forgive. Our lives model what it looks like to carry peace, hope and joy.
This world needs vessels like you and I to be their lighting strips in a dark room. To help guide and direct them back to the Father.
God is banking on you and I to shine His love and light to this world so that He can cover it with His glory! I don’t know about you, but that gets me up with a burning passion every morning.
It is the goodness of God that leads people to change. May we continue to grow up into Him in love, character, and nature. Today, we can show our world what it looks like to live as sons and daughters of the Most High King. May His light shine through us, the hope of glory and the guidance for a dark world.
Pray With Me
God, I thank You that You love me and choose to partner with me to see the earth covered in Your glory. I thank You that You are constantly molding me and transforming me to look more and more like You every day. May I continue to reflect Your image so that those around me taste and see Your goodness! Show me the people today who need to experience Your light, and help me to notice my opportunities to point them back to You in a dark world. I love You and honour You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
