Who You Say I Am – Part 2

DAY 7 OF 15

Jesus was sharing a meal with some important religious leaders. While they were eating a woman came straight over to Jesus and poured expensive perfume onto His feet. Simon, the host of the dinner, was mad that the woman would waste such an expensive gift, “Doesn’t Jesus know what kind of woman she is? A rule breaker!” So Jesus told them story about two people who owed money to a man.

They had each borrowed a different amount. One man owed 500 silver coins, and the other owed only 50 silver coins. Neither of them had enough money to pay back what they owed. So the man who they owed the money to allowed them to go free without paying any money back.

Then Jesus asked Simon, "Which person would love the man more for being set free from paying their debt?"

Simon said, "I suppose it would be the person who owed the most money".

Jesus told them that the woman who poured out her perfume had been set free and forgiven much. So she has showed great love and those who have been forgiven only a little, only love a little.

Just like the debt was forgiven in the story Jesus told, He forgave the sin of the woman. She knew she had been forgiven much and was so grateful. She was set free! We too are forgiven much. Jesus died and rose again so we could be set free from the debt of sin. We deserved the punishment of sin, but Jesus paid the price and set us free.

Read today’s verses to see the story Jesus told.
