Living a Life That Honors Godનમૂનો
A Rock of Stumbling
Jesus is the cornerstone and foundation of the church, as we read two days ago. But we also read that many rejected him. So, what happens to those people who do not believe in Jesus? Today’s verse says that they were destined to stumble. You can’t just ignore Jesus Christ and go on with your life as if nothing ever happened. If you choose not to believe in Him, He will become “a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense” for you.
Just like Jesus’ coming was prophesied centuries beforehand, so was his rejection. The prophet Isaiah foretold: “And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling … And many shall stumble on it. They shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken” (Isaiah 8:14-15). Jesus offers us reconciliation with God, and if we reject his offer this will result in dreadful consequences. “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God” (John 3:18).
Do you accept Jesus as the cornerstone of your life, or is He a stone of stumbling to you?
