No Safer Place
Psalm 84:10
One day in your Temple is better than a thousand days anywhere else.
You can tell a lot about a person by knowing where he prefers spending his time most of the time. If he spends most of his time in the library, it means he likes stillness and finds that reading is his comfort zone. If he prefers staying at home most of the time, it means he feels that home is his safest place.
This Psalm writes that the sparrow built a home near God’s altar. An altar is where all the animal sacrifices were made! How deep the sparrow’s trust in God’s protection was, that it preferred staying near the altar to other places.
The Psalmist says that even though his time is short, he’d rather spend only one day in God's presence than 1000 days anywhere else.
Be like the sparrow. When you are in His presence, believe that you are under the protection of God. There is no greater and safer place than God’s presence. Be someone who loves to dwell in God’s presence.
Prayer
Dear God, no matter what I’m doing, I’d rather be in Your presence because Your presence is all that I need. Amen.
