Five Business Paradoxes – Part IV
When I was a commercial lender, a young man excitedly began sharing with me that “Steinway Piano” was for sale and he wanted us to loan him the money to buy this well-known company.
When I asked how much he needed to borrow, I was stunned when he said, “I think they’ll probably want $200 million and I’ll need to borrow all of it. I’m only 25 and I don’t have any money.”
We didn’t loan him the money, but it was a reminder of how casually people consider the use of debt in business.
Proverbs 3:5 teaches, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”
The world often says to use all the money you can borrow, but God says to trust in Him, not the bank.
