The Principles of First Mentionનમૂનો
SUPERNATURAL POWER
By Todd Lane
Then God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth." Genesis 1:22 (NLT)
In the movie The Princess Bride, there’s a great scene after Inigo Montoya and his co-conspirators kidnap Princess Buttercup. They’re racing away to the Cliffs of Insanity in a sailboat when they discover there’s a man in a black mask on a sailboat behind them. As the man in black keeps gaining on them, Inigo says, “I wonder if he is using the same wind we are using?” It’s kind of funny, but this line always reminds me of God’s blessing.
The first time we see the word “blessed” in the Bible, it’s in the creation story. God could have just kept creating new fish and birds instead, He gave them the ability to reproduce and they’ve been doing this well since Genesis 1:22! Their purpose was to fill the earth and God freely gave His power to accomplish that purpose.
In Pastor Robert’s book The Blessed Life, he explains “blessed” is defined as “having supernatural power working for you.” In other words, when you are connected to the purpose and blessings of the God of all creation, you’ll move through life with His wind in your sails. Umm, yes, please! I want that!
So how do we get connected to God’s blessings? Throughout Scripture, we see a clear pattern: blessing is linked to actively obeying God. The Old Testament law drew clear consequences between the blessings of obedience and the curses of disobedience, and unfortunately, humanity often doomed itself to curses. But then Jesus took on all the curses for us (Galatians 3:13), and His obedience became our deliverance. Now when we turn our hearts to God through repentance and obedience, the doors to His supernatural blessings fling wide open.
Like the man in the black mask sailing quickly and smoothly, I know when I’m sailing with the wind of God’s power and blessing and fulfilling His unique calling on my life. And I also know when I’m sailing against it. I’m sure you do too. There is always a route back to blessing. Ask yourself today: Is there an area of my life I need to obediently surrender to Him? God loves you so much more than all the fish and the birds, and He’s waiting to unlock His supernatural power to work for you!
Prayer
Lord, I humble myself before You today. I ask that You bless me to accomplish Your work on earth. I repent where I have disobeyed, and I turn my heart to obey Your leading in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Memory Verse
The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130 (ESV)
