The Ways of Jesusનમૂનો
Let’s Go Fishing
The ways of Jesus. Jesus calls his first disciples, tells them to leave their nets and leave their lives. Then asks them to follow Him. Lastly, he says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Leave, follow and then Jesus will make you fishers of men.
Fishing is such an interesting activity. Grab a pole and some bait and a friend, and spend hours casting out and reeling in. Some days you catch a lot of fish. Some days you go home empty handed. I have been deep sea fishing several times in my life. You go out on a boat with an expert fisherman. He knows the waters. He knows the perfect bait. He knows the perfect spots to catch a lot of fish. I remember one expert fisherman telling me one time, “You never know. The place that got me a lot of fish yesterday, may give me no fish today. But the only way we know where the fish are is by throwing a line in the water.”
Catching fish is fun. The fight is exhilarating. But what I have learned over the years is that the adventure of fishing is way more fun than catching the fish. Being out on the water. The silence of nature, fishing from the side of the pond. The conversations. The laughter. The memories. The stories.
Maybe you were able to leave your nets. Maybe you were able to follow Jesus. But have you neglected the last statement from Jesus? Have you become a fisher of men? Do you tell other people about Jesus? Do you 'catch' people like Jesus 'caught' you? Jesus is just asking that you throw a line in the water. Jesus will “make” you fishers of men. You will not have to depend on yourself.
