Walk on Waterનમૂનો
This is how you walk on water — one foot in front of the other
Never gonna let you go under — just put one foot in front of the other
After Jesus catches Peter He says, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Little faith? Peter just got out of a boat in the middle of a storm in the middle of the night to walk on water toward what he thought was Jesus. That seems more like crazy faith.
But perhaps Jesus wasn’t referring to the strength of Peter’s faith — after all, he was the only disciple to attempt water walking — but maybe Jesus was referring to the sustainability of Peter’s faith.
We know Peter was both impulsive and bold and this story teaches us that while bold faith can get you out of the boat, steady faith is what keeps you above the water.
The strength of our faith isn’t always best measured by the moves we make, but how steadfast we remain in the midst of the storm.
A lot of people have starting power, but sometimes real faith is marked by staying power. Staying power is what fuels you to put one foot in front of the other when everything you see looks nothing like you imagined.
Peter may have thought that once he got out of the boat, Jesus would stop the storm so he could walk to Him on smooth waters. When the wind continued to rage Peter probably thought, “This isn’t going how I pictured” and it’s hard to keep our faith when God doesn’t do what we think He should.
Maybe that’s why Paul wrote, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” He knew that faith that endures is the goal. But how do we keep our faith when the wind threatens to blow it away?
The Bible tells us that if we keep our minds focused on God, He will keep us in perfect peace.
We keep our faith by keeping our focus on the One who called us.
No matter what you’re walking through today, you aren’t going under. The storm did eventually stop that night at Jesus’ command and when it did the disciples worshiped Him. Don’t wait until you’re back in the comfort of the boat to worship God though. Worship Him as you follow Him into seasons where it feels like the wind is against you.
Miracles happen when you get out of the boat and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Spend time today worshiping the God who sits above the waters and ask Him to plant an abiding faith in your heart.
