Trusting God When The Road Gets Tough

DAY 3 OF 5

Trusting God In The Everyday

by Justin Mosteller

Our worship team, Crossroads Music, recently released a new song, "Trust". I love this song. It has helped embed truth in me – in my mind and my heart. I am reminded of the posture I’m supposed to take before God at all times and through all circumstances: to trust that He is good. To wait on Him to show His power. To hope in His eternal strength and presence.

I stopped to ask myself the question, “What are the ways and where are the places I am trusting God right now?” The first thing, of many, that came to my mind was my role as a father. School is getting ready to start for the first time, and I have a 2nd grader, 1st grader, Kindergartener and a Preschooler. This morning I was struck with the realization that the next 10 to 15 years are going to be a roller coaster ride, and they’re going to fly by!

I desperately want to raise kids who say yes to Jesus; kids who know His voice and say yes to Him. I want my kids to love coming back to our family because they love our family dynamic and our relationship. I’m learning to trust God as a dad right now because there are many days that I feel like a failure. There are many days I feel inadequate. Many days where the stresses and thoughts of work take me away from being a dad. Many days where I lack the patience and grace to be the dad my kids need.

Right now, I’m trusting God to give me all that I need to raise my kids well – to give me patience, wisdom, grace and love to raise them to say yes to Him.

“Father, today I lean on You for all that I will need to represent You well in every environment I’m going to be in: work, school, a doctor’s office, the DMV, an airport. I trust that You will meet me wherever I am and make a way for me. Please help me keep my eyes fixed on You today."
