BibleProject | Upside-Down Kingdom / Part 1 - Luke

DAY 20 OF 20

The Gospel of Luke ends with Jesus and all of his disciples together sharing another meal. Everyone is amazed by his resurrected body. They see that he is still a human, but he’s also way more. He’s passed through death and came out on the other side a walking, talking, piece of new creation. Then Jesus tells them this amazing news. He’s going to give them the same divine power that sustained him, so they can go out and share the good news of his Kingdom with other people. After this, Luke tells us that Jesus was taken up into Heaven, where Jews understood God’s throne to be. Jesus’ followers can’t stop worshiping Jesus. They return to Jerusalem and joyfully await the divine power that Jesus promised. Luke then continues this story in his next letter, the book of Acts. It’s there that he tells the epic story of how Jesus’ followers received God’s power and took the good news out into the world.
