Divine

DAY 1 OF 4

DIVINE DEFINED

We’re going to go out on a limb and say that the word “divine” probably isn’t part of your regular vocabulary.

Since it’s a word most of us don’t throw around on the regular, let’s define it: If something is divine, it means it’s from God or like God.

So, if you hear someone refer to their dessert as divine, you can assume they’re exaggerating (definitely ask for a bite though — they’re saying that whatever they’re eating tastes like it came straight from heaven’s kitchen).

The source of anything that is truly divine can be traced back to God, so before we can understand the true meaning of the word, we have to seek to better understand God.

Many of us have settled for believing in a version of God that falls short of who He truly is.

We sometimes view Him as angry, absent, or disappointed, and there’s nothing divine about those traits. Thankfully, that’s not our God.

Our God is close, but He is not common. He can’t be compared to anyone — not even the greatest person you know. There is nothing ordinary about our God.

Our God is more powerful than our minds can comprehend and yet more patient than our hearts allow us to believe.

He’s beyond anything we could imagine and yet He is Immanuel, God with us.

He’s infinite (without limits) and dependable.

He’s the creator and sustainer — the beginning and end. He’s with you today and already waiting for you in your tomorrow.

He is holy, which means He has never sinned, never failed, and there isn’t a trace of weakness in Him.

He knows us better than we know ourselves, which means we can trust Him to do what is best.

There are divine opportunities that await you each and every day. Think about that for a minute. You have opportunities coming to you straight from God. The key is opening our eyes to see them.

For the next four days, we want you to spend some time alone with this Bible study so you can get a divine word — literally, a word from God.

Take a few minutes and write down some things you believe about God. Use the scripture above or any other Bible verses that come to your mind!
