God’s Love Endures Forever

DAY 3 OF 4

You Should Love This Bible Nerd

The other day I sent my wife a text with some in-depth, granular, Hebrew-based research I had done in the Bible that left me praising Jesus. She replied (as only my beautiful bride can) with a picture that said, “Neeeeeeeeerd!”

Okay, she might have had a point. I was calculating the ratios of specific Hebrew words used throughout the various books of the Old Testament, which is a bit nerdy. But check out what I discovered:

The book of Psalms only contains seven percent of the total words of the Old Testament, yet it has 59 percent of the uses of praise and give thanks. So why the disproportionate amount? Because two other words constantly show up in the psalms: 52 percent of the total Old Testament appearances of the words love and mercy and 44 percent of the forevers are in the psalms. Apparently, when God inspired these ancient songwriters to talk about his forever-enduring love, their pens instinctively scribbled, “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:26).

Doesn’t that truth do the same to you? Your eyesight, hearing, heart, joints, and memory won’t endure. But God’s love does. When you buy your first bifocals or schedule your first bypass, God’s love endures forever. When your mom needs a new knee or your father’s mind is fading, God’s love endures forever. No matter what you lose, you won’t lose his love. Because it endures forever!

I can’t think of news much better than that. Do you agree? (I thought you would. I’ll let my wife know you’re on my side.)
