In My Boat: Trusting God in the Midst of the Storm નમૂનો
Fear and Faith
Do you think David was afraid when the lion and the bear paid his flock a visit? I have thought about this on so many occasions and I have come to the conclusion that maybe he was really afraid at first. I mean it was a lion—the big furry one that would scare all the animals when it roared. But wait for this: the Bible records that David killed both of them. Wow!
How do you deal with the things that upset your life? The storms and fires that leave shame and depression in their wake or that one thing you have repeatedly cried to God about in prayer. Life tends to be spontaneous and we are sometimes paid an unexpected visit by lions and bears that shake us up, kind of like they did David.
But you can deal with these circumstances as spontaneously as they come. The secret behind David’s killing of the lion and the bear, I like to believe, was his grounded understanding of who was doing life with him—Jesus! I want to believe he went into a faith activation mode where he began to confess who he was in Christ Jesus and grew bold enough to confront his uninvited guests.
David went on to defeating and beheading Goliath, also, because he remembered who he was doing life with. He made it a practice to speak to every storm that came his way by informing the storm that he had Jesus in his boat.
WIll you cower to fear when life’s lions and bears come visiting with their entourage of heartbreak, failure, low self-esteem, guilt, and the like? Or will you, like David, activate your faith, speaking to them that the all-powerful Jesus is in your boat and He guarantees that they can do you no harm because there is no place for them in your life?
If God be for you, who can be against you?
No one!
Prayer
Dear Father God,
I pray for the activation of faith when I find myself in the midst of a storm.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
