Weak Is the New Strong

DAY 7 OF 10

How have you let a weakness stop you from serving God?

Early on in my spiritual journey I gave a devotional talk in the collegiate ministry that God used to change my life. I prayed and prepared everyday for a week. I was so excited to share what God was teaching me in my quiet times with Him. It was game time. During my talk, my speech impediment manifested worse than ever with not only slurring but also stuttering every other word. I was devestated and never wanted to do that again. That evening in my daily reading I read about when God commissioned Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery, and he responded to God that he didn’t have eloquent speech. I saw myself. That’s me! Then God spoke words of life into Moses reminding Him who made his mouth. As if this was not enough encouragement, God gave Moses Aaron to speak for him! The next day, Brad, who heard my talk that I stuttered through spoke words of life into me that I have a gift of public speaking. These words of life deeply gave me courage to continue public speaking. Years later after I’d spoken in front of hundreds and then thousands, I shared with a dynamic speaker how this story of Moses inspired me to continue in public speaking. This encouraging friend pointed out that Aaron did not even end up speaking for Moses after all, but that Moses continued being God’s mouthpiece.

How has God used someone to encourage you in your weaknesses? Who can you encourage the same way?

About this Plan

Weak Is the New Strong

What if you didn’t have to hide your weaknesses anymore? Todd Lollar was never given that option. Slow-moving, slower-talking, cerebral-palsied, and wheelchair-bound, Todd’s physical weaknesses were always apparent. Escaping them was impossible. This plan is based on Todd's book, Weak Is The New Strong: God's Power In You. Discover on this biblical journey how your deepest weaknesses can be your greatest strengths.
