Trouble Makers

DAY 7 OF 10

//Bold//

Have you ever met people that seem to be fearless? I have always had mixed feelings about these kind of people. Sometimes I wholeheartedly support them and other times, it feels like they are intentionally trying to press my anxiety button.

Jonathan, from the Old Testament, is one those people. In one of his adventures, he convinces his servant to go over into enemy territory. In 1 Samuel 14:6 it says “Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those...men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf...” I love how he uses that word perhaps. If I’m in the middle of a battle and am asked to go into enemy territory, I won’t take one step if it isn’t a certainty that victory is waiting for me. Yet Jonathan is acting on a hunch, a guess, a hope that God might help him.

Opportunity favors the bold, is another way of saying that God is waiting for you to step into an uncomfortable situation so that He can deliver you into a successful outcome. The trick is to know which situations to step into. That’s why learning to be God-led is more important than being well intentioned.

Becoming God-led takes practice. I’ve learned that the way an athlete becomes great is not by learning pro techniques, but by becoming a pro at the basic techniques. So take some time to learn the basic tenants of faith. Practice and learn how to share your testimony. Exercise a routine that involves prayer, Bible reading and conversations about faith.

1) REFLECT: Take some time to think about what bold action you could take to tell someone about your faith.

2) REACH: What steps do you need to pursue in order to take those actions? Write them down.

3) RESPOND: Take some time to pray for God’s favor and direction as you take bold action.

About this Plan

Trouble Makers

It’s time to upset the status quo. Following Jesus means going against the flow, being a misfit, causing trouble. It’s time to become trouble makers.
