DAY 4 OF 10

WAKANDE

“God done flipped my story alight, still I get them stereotypes.”

Have you ever heard the phrase “new year, new me”? These words have been tossed around so much with such a lack of follow through that the world has grown accustomed to not taking people seriously when they say they’re changing.

The best way to combat disbelief is with consistency. In Galatians 6:9, the Bible says to not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. Despite the doubters, continue to press on.

You may have started your new walk with God and you’re serious about staying committed to this relationship. You’re excited, however, it can be very discouraging when people don’t take you seriously even though you know your intentions are pure.

On the other hand, you may be seasoned in your faith, and experience judgement from others. People who don’t know you may not take you seriously because of your appearance. This can happen on the basis of age, race, gender, how you speak, or your educational background.

Despite the stereotypes you may experience while trying to walk out your faith, don’t grow bitter. Instead, forgive and continue walking with the Lord, because the consistency of your life will speak for itself. The Bible states in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that “if you are in Christ, you are a new creation and the old has passed away.” You can be confident in who God says you are. Hold on to the word of God in the moments people try to bring up your past to discourage your future with the Lord.
