The Daring Dadનમૂનો
Dads have a ton of responsibility. You are the leader of your family. You provide for your household. You continually cross things off of the honey do list. You are the coach for your kids’ sports team. You work all day and then come home to your wife and kids. You are trying to disengage from work and engage back with your family. But then you have to fix the broken toy or take the car to get an oil change. The weekend comes. Thank goodness for a few days off! But then there is mowing the grass, going to see the in-laws, and going to church and small group that take up all of Sunday.
And then there are your kids. They so desperately want you to engage with them. They wrap around your leg. Call out your name, “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy,” all day long. And many times, we dismiss them.
Jesus faced similar circumstances all throughout his life on earth. The woman at the well. Jesus had just traveled all day long and wanted to rest. But he chose to engage with her. Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus climbed up a tree to see him, and Jesus stopped and engaged with him. The 5000. Jesus was going to rest but saw thousands of people gathering, and he engaged with them. The woman who touched Jesus’ garment. The blind man. The lame man. The woman who washed Jesus' feet. The list could go on and on.
I DARE YOU to engage with your kids today. Make a memory. Go on an adventure. Let your daughter paint your fingernails. Get on the floor. Engage.
About this Plan
Being a dad is difficult. You have so much responsibility. So much to do. Many of us put being a dad on the back burner - until we find ourselves in a place we don't want to be. I dare you to be a great dad.
