Why Worry?

DAY 3 OF 6

Rest in His promises

The world we live in today is fast paced, not allowing for much time of rest unless we are asleep. We are constantly busy on our phones, in meetings both virtual and physical, attending events and prepping for the next big thing, forgetting the importance of being present in the moment. It seems there isn’t a real time to pause and take a break.

From the time of birth, we are forced into the system, accumulating awards and positions to often fill the very void we choose to ignore. The system constantly pushing against purpose that lies within each of us be it through social or financial constraints leaving some destitute and weary.

Matthew 11:28-30 says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Scripture has always been multifaceted, providing solutions for varying scenarios we will encounter in the future. God already knew the cares of this world may overwhelm us and offered Himself as the solution.

Resting in God can be seen as an exchange of hardship and burden to experience real freedom-living free of worry.

We have to remember the promises in God’s word before worry can be replaced. For example, remembering that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Our main text, Matthew 6:25-34 is a reel of examples highlighting how God takes care of the seemingly minute details of nature not to talk of His highly complex creatures, humans. By looking at the way God takes care of these, it provides assurance when we face our own circumstances and are filled with worry.

So take today’s scripture at face value, there is an open invitation to rest and to rest in Him. Will you accept it?

Response for the day:

Thank you for this new understanding of what it means to rest in You. I choose to exchange my worries and burdens for Your promise of peace, provision and rest.

About this Plan

Why Worry?
