Real Hope: Trust

DAY 1 OF 5

UNSHAKABLE TRUST

The story of Dutch heroine Corrie ten Boom never loses its potency for me. We understand that this Dutch watchmaker and lover of Jesus saved close to 800 Jews and resistance fighters from Nazi occupying forces.

When Corrie and her sister Betsie were betrayed and sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp, they ran Bible studies and hymn singing services in the dim glow of a bare light bulb and under the noses of the guards outside.

What kind of overpowering, unquenchable trust in Jesus and His promises generates this kind of compulsion to express God’s love? What divine recklessness? Recklessness not in the sense of ill-conceived or without any forethought – but in the sense of a selfless unwavering belief that God is deserving of our praise and is unquestionably trustworthy. Due to a camp clerical error, Corrie was allowed to leave the camp only days before all the women her age in the camp were killed. Corrie ten Boom offered this insight: Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

When the Psalmist says, ‘God is my rock…’, he doesn’t declare the rain and wind aren’t going to blow, or the ground shake. The promise is that God is there to cling to when the weather is bad.

Today, don’t just sit on the rock. Secure yourself to the Lord. Wedge yourself into God’s promises. Write them down. Say them out loud. The weather gets bad sometimes. God’s promises are trustworthy all the time.

About this Plan

Real Hope: Trust

In today’s age of information overload, are we putting our trust in the things of this world or in our Heavenly Father? He is the one who is infinitely trustworthy, who should be the primary influence in our life, and who is the only one who can help us be the best version of ourselves. As you read through this plan, consider, who do you trust?
