Faith Over Fearનમૂનો
God Is My Shepherd
I’m sure that you will be very interested to know that David’s confession in Psalm 23, was written in his time of success instead of hardship.
David is the second king of Israel and he is known as one of the greatest and most successful king of the Jews. As a very powerful and prosperous king, it would sound reasonable for him to say, “I lack nothing.” Because as a king, he could have everything he wanted. But instead he said that his contentment did not come from wealth, power, or even women, but from the realisation that God was His shepherd.
In facing COVID-19, we realize all our wealth, power, popularity, and achievement don’t really mean much. At this very moment the whole world has to establish new perspectives towards life and redefine what really matters in this life. Although David had everything human beings could ever want in this world, he concluded that only in God, the Good Shepherd, he lacked nothing! Don’t you agree that this is the best time for us to follow after David’s example?
As our shepherd, God promised that He will make us lie down in green pastures. He will lead us beside quiet waters, refresh our souls, and guide us along the right paths for His name’s sake. God didn’t promise that we will not walk through the darkest valley, but He has promised that we will never walk alone because He will be with us; His rod and His staff will comfort us.
God will provide for us, including the vaccine and medicine that the world needs, because He has promised that He will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies.
I pray that goodness and mercy will follow you, all the days of your life; and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
