Confident Faith

DAY 4 OF 5

Be an ambassador

I was once called the Ambassador of New Ulm, Minnesota. Are you impressed? I was a teenager working a fast-food drive-through. I told a customer enthusiastically about some sights to see in my hometown. My excitement got him excited to explore the city. Ambassadors promote what’s great about their city/country so others want to see it.

Two thousand years ago, a pastor named Paul wrote to Christians in Corinth and encouraged them: “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. . . . Be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

As Christ’s ambassadors, you promote Jesus’ love so others want to experience it. Too often, Christians are viewed as people who are AGAINST things. We’re anti-this. We reject that. It’s true we’re set apart by God to live differently. But it’s better to be known for what we’re for. We’re for Jesus. We’re for forgiveness. We’re for life being different, having meaning, having peace through Christ. That’s something to be excited about. That’s what others are yearning for, whether they realize it or not.

Be an ambassador for Christ. It’s easier to live your Christian faith when your focus is living FOR something rather than AGAINST something. Live for God.

People will notice. Proclaim the joy that you have been reconciled to God, having your life restored into a right relationship with Christ. May your excitement in God’s grace be used by the Spirit to connect other people’s lives to Christ.
