While We Waitનમૂનો
Author: Jenni Clayville and Liz Sarno
In the midst of the waiting, discovering the promise in the process is what can keep you anchored. If you remember Sarah, in the Old Testament, she was given a promise from God. Not just any promise—a seemingly impossible promise. She was told she would have a baby, even though she was well past the age to have children.
Sarah didn’t immediately believe this could happen to her. In fact, when she first heard about a potential pregnancy, she laughed. After the initial shock wore off, she held onto that promise regardless of how crazy it may have seemed. Hebrews 11 says that Sarah was able to have a child by faith though she was barren and too old. She believed God would keep His promise. She considered Him faithful who promised!
Even when you can’t understand the promise or can’t see how it will come to pass, you can hold on to the Promiser. You can have faith in knowing that the One who made a promise to you will be faithful to see that promise come to pass in your life.
The worst kind of waiting is when you don’t know the specifics of what you are waiting for. You might think, “I don’t have a promise.” But you do. You have a promise that the plans God has for you are good. You have a promise that your eye has not seen and your ear has not heard the plans that God has for you. You have a promise that even when you aren’t sure where you are going or how you are going to get there, you have Someone beside you every step of the way. Someone who will never leave you or forsake you!
It isn’t easy to wait for something, but you can allow the time to refine you. The waiting can reveal your weakness, but that’s a good thing because that’s where you find your strength. Paul said that when his weakness was revealed it allowed God’s strength to work through him. The process helps you clearly see the things you need to adjust and change to help you become a better version of yourself.
The waiting isn’t really ever about going from where you are to where you want to be; it’s always about you going from who you are to who you want to be.
What are you waiting on right now that’s meant to refine you?
Think of a time in the past that, in hindsight, was exactly what needed to happen when it happened.
What promises are just waiting to be discovered?
