Worship and Singing
What’s the first thing you think about when you hear the word “worship”? Is it the time before the message at a church service or a specific type of music?
Singing is the part of worship we are most familiar with. But worship is more than singing or even music itself. Worship is about adoring God and acknowledging how great He is.
The reason singing moves us so powerfully is that we were created for it. It doesn’t matter if we have the best or the worst voice — all the rhythm or none at all. We were made to enjoy God and submit to Him in a posture of praise.
We all have different voices, methods of expression, and perspectives. God made you uniquely, which means you can praise Him in a way no one else can.
God loves hearing your voice. Whether you are happy, sad, bored, or numb, you always have a reason to praise. What do you like about God? What have you seen Him do this week? Have you experienced His presence or heard His voice?
If there is breath in your lungs, there’s a reason to sing praises to our King. So find a favorite worship playlist and turn it up loud. Let truth flow from your mouth and remind your heart who God is and what He has done for you.
Reflection Questions:
- Is anything holding you back from worshipping?
- What can you thank Jesus for today?
- How do you feel the most comfortable worshipping? Take a few minutes and ask God what He wants your worship life to look like.
