Q2) What is something that you have really enjoyed beginning (e.g. a hobby, sport, learning a musical instrument, etc.)?
What does the Bible say about beginnings?
- God has no beginning. He has always existed.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” (Revelation 1:8)
- Heaven and earth had their beginning in God.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)
- When someone becomes a Christian, they experience a new beginning.
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- God promises that when this world ends there will be a new heaven and a new earth.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:4-5)
Discussion Questions
- Why do you think it is important that God does not have a beginning?
- What difference does it make in our lives if we were created by God?
