Finding Peace In Uncertain Timesનમૂનો
Yesterday, we looked at the first reminder: Focus on the Future.
Before exploring Reminder 2, a quick note: For each day I will put (right below Today's Prayer) the list of the reminders we've walked through already. That way, if you'd like to spend some extra time focusing on those reminders, you can do it without going back to previous readings.
Reminder 2: Build up instead of blame.
It’s interesting that immediately after encouraging the Philippians (and us) to focus on the eternal, Paul turns their attention to people. Their arguments. Their conflicts.
I think Paul was on to something. He knew that in the midst of uncertainty, people tend to turn on one another. After all, someone must be blamed, right?! Wrong.
What would happen if we made every effort to build each other up, rather than blame?
Speak a kind word. Compliment someone. Post something encouraging. Give to someone in need. Find someone who is hurting and pray for them. Then tell them you are praying for them.
Figure out who you can bless instead of who you can blame.
Today's Prayer
Father God, in the midst of my uncertainty, keep me from blame and bitterness. Help me to see the people around you as you see them. As your children. As people you love...and died for. Help me show compassion and kindness to them today. Guide me to offer a word of encouragement or even a warm smile. In a world so divided, help me speak your words of peace and hope. Amen
The Reminders So Far...
- Focus on the eternal.
- Build up instead of blame.
