DAY 31 OF 40

Living the Blessed Life | God Must Be First

Placing God first in every area of your life is absolutely necessary. This especially includes the area of finances because finances relate to every area of your life. The way you handle your finances shows what your priority is—who or what is first is your life.

God will never settle for anything less than first place in your life. The proof of whether or not God is first in your life lies in where you spend your money. The Bible is clear on this issue. God commands you to first give Him your firstfruits (tithe), which is 10% of what you earn.

Tithing isn’t a legalistic requirement; it is a principle by which God tests your heart. God wants to be first in your life, and He asks for the first because it requires faith on your part to give it. The question you have to ask yourself is, “Do I want to try and make it through life with 100% of my finances cursed, or do I want to give God 10% first and live off of a redeemed and blessed 90%?”

It all comes down to where your heart is. The bottom line: Is God first in your life? Make a sacred covenant with God today to keep Him first in your life by gladly giving Him the first part of your day, the first part of your week and the first part of your finances. Let your actions today declare, “God is first in my life!” You will be blessed!

Memory Verse

"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:20–21
