The Power of Prayerનમૂનો
Day 5: Let Us Knock
The first level is to “ask.” The promise declares that if we ask, God will respond to us. It is the most basic level of prayer. It is like a child that asks for what he needs. The second is to “seek”: this is the level of effort where I put into practice my responsibility to pray every day. The third is to “knock,” which is the most advanced level. It is a level of trust, where I no longer pray only for my own needs, but also for the needs of others.
Midnight is the darkest part of the night--this is symbolic of trials. We will all have a “midnight” in our lives: an instance where we will not know what to do. But it is then that we will be able to experience the level of “knocking.” This is the prayer filled with trust where we say, “I have nowhere else to go.”
In the face of the situations we encounter, many times we strive, grieve and, in many cases, become ill. But God hopes that we will trust, for, “God is faithful to fulfill his promises.” Prayer becomes effective when it moves forward with perseverance. Don’t quit praying; don’t stop knocking! Your answer is in the distance of your prayer.
WE WILL TRUST IN GOD. WE KNOW TO WHOM TO APPEAL.
In this third level you don’t only ask for yourself; you ask for others as well. It is the highest level of prayer, where I no longer think about my needs but about the needs of others--it is intercession for lost souls. “‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ also means to pray for others as we do for ourselves.”
How very important it is to take time every day to present our needs before God, exercising faith and trust to see answers given to our prayers!
I challenge you to search out the Lord with persistence--to knock--for the doors will be opened.
