God is All-Knowing
Do you ever feel like no one understands you?
Today we learn that God is omniscient, meaning that He knows everything. He knows everything there is to know about creation, earth, space, and even you and me. He is all knowing.
Recently, we learned that God is Creator. Remembering that God created everything helps us understand how God can know everything about His creation. God’s ability to know everything helps us continue to understand who God really is. In Psalm 139, we read that God’s knowledge is “too wonderful for me; It is too high.” If you and I knew everything, then we would be God. There is only one true God, the Maker of everything, who knows all things.
Psalm 139 says that He knows when we sit down and when we get up. He knows our thoughts. He knows how we spend our time. He knows what we think about. He even knows what we will say before we say it!
We also see that He is “intimately acquainted” with all our ways. He not only knows what we do, think and say, but He understands why. God knows more than facts. He understands the “hows” and “whys” about everything in creation and about you specifically. He understands why you behave a certain way or think and feel a certain way. He understands you more than you do!
Psalm 139:13-15 says, “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb…. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret.”
You and I will never know everything there is to know. It is good to gain knowledge and understanding about the world around us and about ourselves; it helps us grow to be more like Him. Keep studying and keep learning! But don’t become anxious when you realize you don’t know everything. Trust that the God you love and serve does! Most importantly, God who knows everything, created you, understands you, and loves you!
Prayer:
God, You are Maker of all things, and You know all things! You are too wonderful for me to understand, but I thank You for letting me be in relationship with You. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for Jesus. Because You know all things, I choose to trust You instead of my own understanding. Thank You for knowing and understanding me completely. Jesus, I want to know You more. Amen.
