Growing in Hope

DAY 2 OF 43

God is Creator

In the book of Genesis, we read that God created everything in six days. Starting in Genesis 1:1 the Bible says, “God created the heavens and the earth.” Everything God created works together in harmony. In verses 3-5, we read that God created the sun. He made the earth rotate on its axis at a speed of approximately 1000 mph, which is once every twenty-four hours. This is why we have both night and day. The earth tilts on its axis to give the seasons of spring, summer, winter and fall. All of this could not have happened by accident; God created it this way.

The Bible says there are more stars in the heavens than grains of sand on the earth’s beaches (Read Psalm 139:18). While it is impossible to count the stars and the grains of sand, a quick Google search reveals that science agrees with the Bible—there are more stars than the grains of sand on the earth’s beaches. What is really impressive about God is that He knows all of those stars by name (Read Isaiah 40:26). After all, He created them.

God created everything and He knows it all very well. We cannot even begin to understand all of His creation, but we can trust Him with it. The Bible says He is even aware when one sparrow dies (Read Matthew 10:29). Not only did God create everything you see, He created you (Read Psalm 139:13).

Today spend time outdoors. Look at the stars. Look at the trees. Look at the animals. In everything, you can see the Creator of the Universe, the One True God and His handiwork. Acknowledge Him. Love Him.

Prayer:
God, I acknowledge that You are the Creator. I believe You created everything. Thank you for creating me. Please show me more of Your creation today. Help me to see what You made in new ways and more importantly, help me to see You more in creation. In Jesus name, Amen.
