FCA Endurance: Becoming IronFitનમૂનો
Train Your Mind
Ready:
“We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
Set:
Races that take longer than two hours to complete require more strategy than shorter races such as 5K’s or sprint triathlons. Completing these races can be challenging and is a tremendous accomplishment, but it doesn’t require the same mindset as a longer event. Longer races are not only physically demanding but are also mentally demanding. You need to train your mind!
Training for longer races requires a focus on physical, nutritional, and mental preparation. The mental challenges begin immediately from the day you register for the race. Becoming spiritually fit also requires mental toughness. As a disciple in today’s society, it is very easy to get distracted, and just like in a long race, the temptation to give in or quit is more mental than physical. The Bible is a great resource to learn how to train your mind to reject Satan’s attempts to keep you from finishing strong. In Romans chapter 12, you can read how to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. We renew our mind by surrendering it (and our heart) to Jesus Christ, staying in God’s Word daily, and allowing His Holy Spirit to fill us.
When we make Jesus the most important part of our daily training, He will make us spiritually prepared not only for our race but for our life. With our focus and worship on Him and not on our own performance, we will have a renewed sense of purpose–we will be competing for Christ!
Go:
1. How can you ask God to protect and direct your mind and thoughts?
2. Do you recognize that Satan attempts to attack you? How can you defeat him?
Workout:
Romans 12:1-2
Colossians 3:2
Philippians 4:8-9
Overtime:
“Father, help me to keep my mind fixed on You. Empty me of unhealthy thoughts and fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that thoughts of how great You are fill my mind. You are holy and worthy of my worship, honor, and praise.”
Scripture
About this Plan
This plan is a ten-day guide to increasing your spiritual strength and performance. Many endurance athletes spend hours, days, and months training to compete in an event like Ironman but may not spend time training for their spiritual journey. These athletes have an intense training regimen that can be duplicated in your spiritual training with God. The next ten days prepares you for that. Let the training and competition begin!
