Hearing From Heaven: Listening for the Lord in Daily Lifeનમૂનો
The Heavenly Voice Says, "Take Refuge in Me."
I was the small guy growing up. And sadly, I still am.
Life in the makeshift settlements of Nairobi is often characterized by violence, and my lack of mass certainly provided me a fair share of that violence. Sometimes, it felt like it was every person for themselves. Our parents didn’t have time to make sure we weren’t bullied--they had to work as much as they could to earn an income.
While in sixth grade, I experienced a particularly bad bout of bullying. The leader seemed like a giant! He humiliated me. At the end of the week, I found myself despondent. But I went to the Compassion Center at my church, where they talked about God being our refuge. While hearing this teaching, the love of the Lord poured out to me and my poor soul was consoled.
The Compassion Center was a place where I could experience peace and safety. The staff would take good care of us and comfort us.
Have you ever felt afraid? Have you ever felt unsafe? Have you ever felt incapable of preserving your life? We can take our fear to our God because He is a good God. He hears our cries for safety. He protects us from evil.
Like David, you can call out to God. He can preserve your life! He can protect you from the dangers of this world. Take a moment and pray for all the kids in the world who are afraid. Intercede for their lives and souls and ask that the Lord would reveal Himself as a refuge to them. Amen.
