40acts: Ready to Actનમૂનો
Act 24: Passion Project
What is it that gets you out of bed in the morning? What’s the driving force of your life? Whether it’s something you’ve got the privilege of already being involved in, or something aspirational that you’re still aiming at, having a passion lifts your life out of the mundane, gives you purpose, and connects you with the heart of God. Today is about lifting the lid on what excites you, shouting it from the rooftops and encouraging others to join you.
Here’s a shocking verse: ‘by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith’ (2 Thessalonians 1:11). It alarms us to realise that we have deep desires that actually come from God. He doesn’t just lead us into difficult callings and tasks to challenge us. We are used to hearing stories about Christians called to unfamiliar countries where they are taken from everything they know and love. And while some of this is true, it’s also true that God puts desires in our hearts that we, and he, deeply long to fulfil.
As a royal daughter or son of God – ‘a chosen priesthood, a royal nation’ (1 Peter 2:9) – you are not just handed down assignments. No, God, just like a good father, wants to draw desires and passions from your heart. What is it that you want to do? What do you want to see happen on the earth? What excites you and gets you out of bed in the morning? And, if you’re not in the ideal place to make a big career change or a passion project happen, what would you love to live your days doing, if you had the time and resource? These are questions to bring to the Father.
How do we know if it’s a passion project that comes from God? Pray. And look at what the Bible says: ‘seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well’ (Matthew 6:33). If we are genuinely looking to see God’s goodness in these ways, then we can know that we are already on the right path.
About this Plan
