Worship
You know those people in your life that you tend to “go through the motions with”? For example, whenever you pass someone and say “Hey, how is it going?” “It’s going good, how are you?” “Oh, I’m good” Then the conversation is over within about 15 seconds, and you go about your day without giving it a second thought. This is how we sometimes approach worship. We see it as motions that we have to go through in order to go to church. Worship is so much more than just a motion. It’s the laying down of our lives, our troubles and our burdens before God and engaging in His powerful presence. It's taking our attention off of our problems and putting our attention on God. It’s the active decision to pursue God no matter how loud or crazy life gets. Worshipping through music and song is powerful, but worship is also taking the time to pause, and to let God speak and pour into us. Psalms 95:1-7 describes the heart of worship towards God: “Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to Him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to Him. For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. He holds in His hands the depths of the earth. The sea belongs to Him, for He made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. If only you would listen to His voice today!” Take the time to rest in God’s presence and drop all your burdens at his altar and fully worship him. It will change your life.
Read the lyrics to a worship song that you really enjoy. What is the author saying about God? Take 5 minutes to sit and think about God in that same way.
