Getting To Know The Real You

DAY 4 OF 9

Have you ever thought about how creative our heavenly Father is?

Wherever you are right now, stop for a minute and look around. What do you see? What do you smell? If you’re eating breakfast while you’re reading this, how does it taste?

Every color, every scent, every flavor was created by God. He didn’t have to make cows produce milk, but He did. He didn’t have to make the sky blue or give flowers an aroma, but He did.

God is so creative, it’s extra. Everything He makes is beautiful and intricate and unique, including you.

The Bible says you were “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). The freckles on your right cheek are beautiful to God. The eye color you think is boring, and the curls you wish were straight are perfect in His eyes.

God had made each us of us marvelously complex. No two humans are the same, and none of us were accidents. He knit you together in your mother’s womb, and the day of your birth was divinely timed (Psalm 139:16).

We can try to change our appearance or personality to impress others, but it will always leave us exhausted. The world doesn’t need another Kayne West or Taylor Swift. The world needs you.

That’s why you’re in your school, your job, and your family. You are God’s masterpiece, created to bring good into the world through the things you are uniquely called and equipped to do.

Reflect

  • What’s one thing you love about yourself? Take as long as you need to find something you sincerely like about the way God made you and thank Him for it.
  • Do you ever find yourself changing your look or your likes to impress others? Why is that?
  • Spend some time today observing God’s artistry. Look for beauty in your friends, your family, and in nature. Look for ways to express to God and others the beauty that you see.

Getting To Know The Real You

With so many different people telling us who we are, or who we should be, how do we know who’s right? We think the One who made us should get to define us. Read this plan to discover who God says you are and find your identity in Him.
