Lesson One: Group Prayer Strategies - Praying in Unison
Another way of praying as a group is `praying in unison’. The Koreans commonly do this so much that it is sometimes called `praying Korean style’.
A. Guidelines
- A leader will lead the group in finding a common subject of prayer. (Ex.: The President)
- Group members will share vital information about the prayer subject and some direction for prayer.
- As a group, you come to a united conviction about the subject of prayer using Scripture as the basis of your conviction.
- The leader gives the cue when the group will start praying.
- Pray aloud together with conviction as the Spirit leads until the prayers naturally subside, and you can move to another round of prayers.
B. Practicing Prayer in Unison
- Make a list of relevant subjects to pray for.
- Share Scripture passages that guide the direction of your prayers for each subject.
- Agree to use these Scripture passages as the basis of your prayers. (Use example in Acts 4:23-31)
- Appoint a leader to serve as a conductor who gives the cue when to begin and when to move to another subject.
- Spend a few minutes in praying in unison following the guidelines given above.
