Perfectionismનમૂનો
Overcoming perfectionism means letting go of an unattainable ideal you hold for yourself.
When you let go of the plans that seem perfect to you, you free up space for God to lead you in a new direction.
“I must decrease” is a phrase from John 3:30 that has traditionally reminded Christians to take the focus off of themselves and put the focus back on God. In her journey out of perfectionism, this verse was critical for Erin.
“I had to decrease in order for him to increase,” Erin says. “I had to let go of who Erin thinks she is in order for God to fill me – for him to use me.”
To recover from perfectionism, there may be things you need to decrease in your life. You might need to let go of the relentless pursuit of titles, trophies, or other markers of success.
At the same time, you may need to increase the share of God in your life. You can do this by reading the Bible, by praying, and by being part of a Christian community where people work together and care for one another.
With God’s help, you can move away from perfectionism towards a healthier relationship with God and your work.
Prayer: God, I let go of my perfectionism. I want you to increase in my life. You are perfect, God. Amen.
