Vision

Having gone through this Dare to Ask adventure, of Dreaming again, of being Awakened to who he really is, and therefore who we really are, and learning to rise above and Soar, it’s easy to imagine that we would eventually arrive at a destination of vision, calling and destiny. 

But this isn’t necessarily the way that God works. Sometimes he does bless us with a vision, a direction, something that he wants us to ‘do’ in life. But sometimes our calling is simply to live a life surrendered: to acknowledge our passions and dreams, to truly engage with who he is, to trust him, and to walk in blind obedience. 

We do not always get the full picture, even though learning to soar should enlarge our picture of what we are called to. What should always happen is that our vision of what God has for those around us expands, and that our dreams and passions and how they can impact ourselves and the world, should grow. We should be able to see great security in our identity, and gain understanding of how we’ve been made. 

If your walk with God has grown, and you’ve learned more about how you interact with God, he can use that, even if you don’t yet have a full vision of his plans for your life. Our vision for this great adventure should be more about understanding the character of God and representing him well than about having a specific task to do. We are often too task-orientated, and I would suggest that until we understand our God-given identity in him, he may be withholding that unique ‘to-do’ list. The list cannot become what defines us; we can only operate once we know our identity and become entirely wrapped up in who he is. 

Be encouraged as you finish this adventure - this is only the beginning! It is an invitation to challenge the way you’ve been approaching your passions, dreams and understanding of calling. It’s an opportunity to flip some thinking patterns on their heads and to look at things from a different angle. It’s a chance to reorder your heart, soul and mind so that you can be fully surrendered and truly ascend the hill of the Lord. 

Be blessed as you soar on wings as eagles, as you find in him the strength and currents that will sustain you on your journey. Be blessed as you understand more about how your dreams and passions have purpose, and how God created you to think outside of your own experience - because that is where he can be found. Be blessed as you are freshly awakened to who he really is, who he’s made you to be, and the unique partnership you can be in with him for the sake of his Kingdom.
