Angels
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. (Psalm 91:11, NLT)
Rebecca was very adventurous (taking after her Dad), and I always prayed for God’s protection over her. However, after Rebecca went home to Heaven, I was faced with the question, “Do I really believe in God’s promise to protect us wherever we go?”
Through the overwhelming suffering of a mother’s broken heart, God answered my question and revealed to me many spiritual realities of things we don’t normally see. Rebecca’s guardian angels did protect her throughout her life and every moment of her life was laid out before a single day had passed (Psalm 139:16). Although I can hardly breathe for sorrow and I miss my girl and my boy, I can say with full assurance, May 8th 2014 was the day that God had planned to call Rebecca home. He did not leave her or forsake her; He ordered her guardian angels to carry her safely home and into His arms.
Rebecca’s own words on angels are comforting to me and speak of her absolute faith and trust in God.
“God has His Heavenly armies encamped around us...The Lord has promised to watch out for me and protect me, my future is secure in Him. Thinking to myself, I am faced with a strange set of realities, one sees only about a third of what is actually going on! The realities of the spiritual world are evident and active here on Earth. God is always working for His perfect plan and purpose.”
Rebecca chose, Same Kind of Different as Me, for her book club.
“I was so moved reading, Same Kind of Different as Me, a story of redemption that touched my heart. I felt I’d like to buy a painting of, “Angels in Disguise” by the homeless man in the story.”
In the days after Rebecca went home, remembering how touched she had been by the story, I would stare with tear filled eyes at the painting, “Angels in Disguise.” I thought about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane before his crucifixion. Yielding to His Father’s will, an angel appeared to Him and strengthened Him. I prayed that God would also strengthen me.
Selah
Angels are only servants – spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation. (Hebrews 1:14, NLT)
God’s angels are sent to protect you and one day bring you safely home, where you will hear the voice of many angels numbering thousands upon thousands worshiping and singing, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.” What is God illuminating to you from this message?
