DAY THREE: The Chosen Are Hard-Pressed But Not Crushed
Four days before my 2017 Chosen conference my stepson committed suicide. My emotions were everywhere. I wondered what the meaning of it all was. I wanted to give up.
But God sent reinforcements. He worked on my emotions and strengthened me from the inside out. He helped me to see that I was pressed but not crushed.
If I had given in to the enemy and believed that all was lost, that I was crushed and broken beyond repair, I would have given up. But these are the days when we cannot afford to let our emotions control us. If we don’t feel happy, we stop going to church. Or if we’re angry, we cut someone off in traffic or curse them out at the bank. If we feel lonely and entitled, we may give in to lust when that fine young thing passes in front of our eyes.
But in the chosen realm, fear, anger, hopelessness, lust, and any other dangerous emotions are pressed out of us. God’s people cannot be moved by their emotions. When we get into these situations, we need to be truthful with the Lord. Don’t put on a religious mask. Let Him send reinforcements from heaven to bear you up. Get before Him and repent.
