House of Peace
If God were to suddenly appear and ask: “would you like to have peace?” Most people would probably say “yes”. But how many would give the same answer if God were to ask: “would you like to be a peacemaker?”
God has deposited peace to us. It is written in John 14:17, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.” This peace is not “as the world gives”, but a supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding (Phil 4:7). This peace can only be experienced by someone who is in the Kingdom (Rom 14:17). Therefore, since we have this peace, we are called to bring His Kingdom on earth through bringing this peace as His peacemakers.
The seventh beatitude writes: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” The key to understanding this beatitude lies in understanding Jesus, the Son of God. 2 Cor 5:18-20 writes that God gave us the ministry of reconciliation because He reconciled us to Him through Jesus! So, as the Son of God brought forth reconciliation, bringing peace as ambassadors of His Kingdom signifies that we are sons (and daughters) of God.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for adopting me as a son and daughter. Thank you for taking away my sins and imputing Your righteousness on me, that I can now live for You in this Kingdom family. My Lord, I want to bring Your peace here on earth as your child. I want to be Your peacemaker, reconciling people to You as well as my brothers and sisters. Please give me boldness and courage to step out in the power of Your peace, making earth more like heaven. In Jesus Name, Amen.
About this Plan
Whenever it comes to “Heaven”, many think of it as a future destination. Yet, in the Bible, the Kingdom of God is portrayed as a reality that is happening here and now. This devotional seeks to answer the question: “what wisdom do the Beatitudes hold for Kingdom life?” It is my prayer that as you engage with this devotional, that you will see Heaven revealed in your life.
