FCA: The Undefeated Devotional For Competitorsનમૂનો
Answering the Call
By Adrienne Saxon
READY:
“For we are God's creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10
SET:
When I was 13, I found my first love: basketball. One day when I was in seventh grade, a serviceman came to work on my parents’ house while I was shooting hoops. I don’t remember his name or what he looked like, but he made a comment that stuck with me.
“What’s your name, miss?” he asked. I mumbled a response between baskets and then asked him why. “I’ll remember it when you’re playing in the WNBA.”
It was a magical moment. That comment lit a fire in me, and I worked even harder than before. The idea of playing in the WNBA was the most amazing thing I thought could ever happen in my life.
A few years later, though, God showed me something even more amazing. He used my love for basketball to draw me into a personal relationship with Jesus, and then He called me to share my faith with hundreds of athletes and coaches through the platform of FCA.
Honestly, I wasn’t initially interested in this plan. I wanted to be a professional athlete! My heart was broken when I didn’t achieve the goal the serviceman and I had set that day. But now that I’m more than 10 years beyond that day, I’m so grateful that the Lord allowed me to answer His call for me and not my own. I can look back and see His handiwork in ways I’d never have seen without His intervention.
GO:
1. Do you trust God with your future? Why or why not?
2. Have you answered His call to a relationship with Christ?
3. Are you holding on tighter to your dreams than to Jesus?
WORKOUT:
Psalm 119:105
Psalm 127:1
Isaiah 55:8-9
1 Corinthians 3:7
OVERTIME:
Father, what is You will for my life? Please make it clear as I continue to seek You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
About this Plan
Win or lose, God is always Undefeated. The FCA Undefeated Devotional deals with issues that coaches and athletes face on and off the arena of competition. This 31-day plan will also help establish a consistent, daily quiet time with God, and includes extra readings and suggested prayer for competitors regardless of sport. We would like to thank the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for providing this plan.
