30 Days In The Gospel Of Markનમૂનો
Thought:
The Jewish religious leaders hated Jesus and wanted to kill Him. Judas Iscariot was greedy and he betrayed Jesus to the chief priests for money. While the plot to arrest and kill Jesus was developing, a woman anointed Jesus with very expensive perfume. Anointing someone was a way to honor and recognize them as a special person. In the Old Testament, kings, priests, and prophets were anointed. Jesus is the Messiah, which means “Anointed One.” He is our King, Priest, and Prophet, who has come to free us from our sins. The woman who anointed Jesus with perfume was not wasting it but rather realized how worthy Jesus is. Honoring and praising Jesus is a great thing! Jesus explained that the woman’s anointing prepared His body for burial beforehand—He knew He was going to be killed soon.
1. Why didn’t the Pharisees want to kill Jesus during the Festival of Unleavened Bread?
2. What did the woman do for Jesus? Why?
3. How did the people react to the woman’s actions? How did Jesus respond?
4. What did Judas Iscariot do?
Engage:
Because Jesus is not physically with us right now, we cannot anoint His body with special perfume. However, it is still good for us to show our love and devotion to Him. Write down some ways you can show you love and devotion to Jesus above all other things in your life this week.
Deeper Waters:
How do you think you would react or feel if you saw someone pouring perfume worth a whole year’s pay on Jesus’ head?
