The Lord Who Heals Youનમૂનો
GOD IS MERCIFUL
Luke 17:13-15 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
Jesus would have known that only one of the ten lepers in this situation would be grateful and respond to Him but He still healed them all. This demonstrates that Jesus doesn't heal based on deserving but based on His mercy.
The Samaritan in the story, the ‘outsider’ who didn’t feel worthy, was grateful because he knew it wasn’t deserved. It’s not about whether you are undeserving, supposedly ‘deserving’, good, not so good but on the fact that Jesus is good and He is the Healer.
What about the other nine? Is it possible that a sense of worthiness can creep into the believer; that can, even unconsciously feel, that I 'should be healed' because I have been a Christian for years and served God. In Luke 17:7-10 Jesus talks about a servant waiting on his master and says that the servant should not expect thanks because he is just doing what is his duty to do. In light of all that has been done for us, our serving and worship is just a reasonable response, in no way earning us what has already been freely given to us.
In Luke 17:5-6 Jesus shares on how even a tiny portion of faith brings results. Often the prayer response to sickness can be out of fear or anxiety, getting masses of people praying, begging God to do something that He has already done, as if He needs convincing to heal. Even though it's essential we do pray, we are healed because of what Jesus has done for us and it’s the prayer of faith that heals the sick.
Faith is not entitled, not works (or lack of works), not begging but rather a response to seeing who Jesus is and what He has done that causes one to believe and respond to Him.
As healing is based totally on Him and His free gift, it is available to all- new believer, mature believer, unbeliever-it's a free, fully paid for and undeserved gift!
Our response is to humbly receive it and give God the praise due to Him.
About this Plan
Jesus provided healing for us just as much as forgiveness through His finished work of the Cross. God has not made this difficult to receive but a simple faith that focuses on seeing Jesus and what He has already done for you, positions you for the power of God that is enough to heal 'every kind of sickness and every kind of disease'.
