Daily Jewels- Aligning Your Crown As A Daughter Of The Kingનમૂનો
Day 3: Stop Screaming at Me
Loud: producing or capable of producing much noise; easily audible.
Do you remember back in the day when your TV would mess up and it made a horrible loud noise with white snow all over your screen? Maybe I am showing my age, but every time this happened I would run to the TV to turn it off because it was so loud and obnoxious! Sometimes I think many of us are walking around with white noise in our head, while we strive to be everything to everyone.
Maybe you are in college hearing and seeing what others are doing and you shift your priorities to look like theirs. You could be in your mid-thirties, like me, raising kids and looking around at how all the other moms are making it look so easy. Maybe you are retired and the noise you were used to is gone. Every season has a new noise, so I want you to reflect on the day ahead. What noises are coming? Is it opinions of co-workers, baby coos, phones ringing, children playing, or keys on the keyboard? Right now I am listening to our loud dryer dry the clothes for the 5th time because I hate actually folding them. The dryer has one purpose- to dry my clothes. And as you face the day, guess what, you have one purpose. It’s easy to complicate what that could be because we all have responsibilities we “think” are our purpose.
Try this exercise. Set an alarm on your phone for 6 minutes. Close your eyes and try to clear your mind. Just sit in the quiet. (I will wait here).
I hope you participated in this exercise because I just showed you what your purpose was, to stop. Your Heavenly Father wants to whisper His still small voice to your heart. He wants to show you things. He wants to direct your steps, and we have to learn to drown out the white noises of life. If you have never heard His voice, I want to ask you a simple question: Have you made time and cleared your mind and heart long enough to hear? Start there, and if you want to learn more, I encourage you to order Priscilla Shirer’s book “Discerning the Voice of God.” This book changed my life.
Growing up, my daddy would call my name and “how” he said it would help me determine if I was in trouble or if he just needed something. I saw my daddy everyday so I could recognize his voice out of 100 other men without actually seeing him. Your Heavenly Father is waiting on you to eliminate what is drowning Him out, so He can become louder. Let’s begin our day with prayer and remind our hearts that our purpose is to grow our relationship with our Heavenly Father. The rest will fall into place according to His will.
Daily Prayer:
Heavenly Daddy,
I am about to face the day with many noises, so my prayer is that You help me learn to be quiet. There are so many things screaming at me, and it can feel overwhelming. Help me discern what is white noise and what is YOU speaking to me. I know my purpose is draw close to You and You will fill in all of the details. Help me to trust you MORE! In Jesus’ name.
Love,
Your daughter
