God Is ... Through Matthewનમૂનો
God is . . . Light
“the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” Matthew 4:16 NIV
I am sure you have seen darkness. I grew up in darkness — spiritual darkness. At the time, I didn’t know it was darkness, but I knew that there had to be something better.
How about you? Have you ever lived in darkness?
Our sins usually lead us into hopelessness. Being without hope is a dark way to live. Hopelessness is where depression, suicide, drugs, and immorality (just to name a few) breed.
The good news: you can always find hope in Jesus. He is the light of this world — and the light of your world! In John 8:12 NIV, Jesus says, “ … I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Yes! Read that again! “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness … ”! That’s a promise. If you are living in darkness, throw down everything that is keeping you from choosing to walk in the light of God’s love!
Choose to renew your mind by reading the Bible. The Bible shines a light in your mind, and darkness cannot live in the light! As you read the Bible, you will fall in love with God. The more you love Him, the more your life, your ways, and your choices will also change. You will become better at listening to your Father and obeying His teachings because you love and revere Him so much!
In John 14:15 NIRV, Jesus explains, “If you love me, you will obey what I command.” This obedience is motivated not by fear of punishment, but rather by your loving relationship with God.
What darkness in your life needs to be exposed to the light so that it can be healed?
Prayer:
God, thank You for revealing Yourself to me as the light of this world and of my life. Speak to me, and rescue me when I sink into darkness. Protect me from the evil one. Help me understand the Bible so it can change me and help me know You better. May I be a light — a witness — of everything that You have done in me. Amen in Jesus’ name.
