Picked For A Purpose 1. Scattered Seedનમૂનો
Seeds of Prayer
Feeling lost – physically and emotionally cut off from those you know and love – has been a recurring event in my life. I still recall the sense of terror I felt when I ran away from nursery school. Setting off on my own, I found myself surrounded by milling crowds of strangers. Nothing was familiar.
These were the weeds that threatened to choke me with fear. But far from doing so, they’d caused the seeds of faith that God had sown in my life to grow stronger. Hence my prayers to Him. My trust in Him. He, endless as the sky above, is everywhere. We may feel lost. But the fact is that we are never alone; never out of His sight. More than that, He is our friend. Our heavenly Father. The Gardener.
There is no situation beyond God; no experience we may encounter that He has not previously experienced. The ‘Baby Jesus’ I observed with my cousins in the nativity scene at the convent next door to where I lived is the Son of God. He set aside His divinity and came to earth precisely so that He might live out a human life as we do.
It may be that you have forgotten the seeds that have been scattered in your life. If so, may I encourage you to cast your mind back? Put the seeds and weeds in your life into God’s hands. Ask Him to show you how best they might thrive and bear fruit. Allow my story to shine light on the shadows of your memories. Read my story and assimilate the truths it relays. Read it because it may be that my experience, though different in its events, is yours, too, symbolically. Read it so that you might discern and use your gifts. Read it that you might know the joy of fulfilling your potential and making this world a better place. Read it so that you may parent and teach your children in a different light.
• What weeds – fearful or negative circumstances – do you recall from your childhood?
• Despite threatening to overcome the seeds that had been sown, did they actually work out for good and strengthen growth in more positive ways?
• Have you ever shot an ‘arrow’ prayer to God and had it answered immediately?
• Do you know the seeds of God’s presence in your life?

About this Plan
What is God trying to show us when we go through hard times? That we are picked for His purpose! Author Mel Menzies knows only too well about pain and suffering, having lost a daughter to drug addiction, been married to an adulterous husband and suffered since birth with an undiagnosed disease. In this study she shows how we can still bear fruit during the hard times.
