DAY 13 OF 47

ENOUGH: INFINITE VALUE

“So God created mankind in his own image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

William Wordsworth said that we emerge from the womb “trailing clouds of glory”. What modern life does is attempt to cover that glory with a sense of inferiority, convincing us that we can’t be complete without a bigger pay check, fancier clothes, the latest gadget.

But you are glorious. Nothing can add to or take away from your value, which has been infinite since before you were even born.

It’s okay to have things. Just know that the real life – deep joy and true meaning – is found elsewhere. People. Relationships. Compassion. Community. Food. Faith. Doubt. Love. Laughter. Sweat. Struggle. Tears. Triumph. This is what it means to be alive.

Dear Lord, help me to block out the messages that society sends me. Help me to hear Your voice, the voice that declares I am made in Your image. Help me to realize my true worth, and live each day in that reality. In Jesus’ name, amen.

About this Plan

Enough: Lent Devotionals

In God’s eyes, we are more than enough. It’s why He sent His son to reconcile us to Him. Though we may never grasp just how much He loves us, at Lent we can take time to reflect on all He did for us. It's time to reject the message that we aren’t enough, and instead remember Christ died for us, just as we are.
