Happily Ever After

Together with the Hero, you will live happily ever after.Read

You know the Hero is standing behind you by the beauty in the air. But when you face him, it’s your undoing. He is so majestic that you fall to the ground in sheer joy.

After a few intensely glorious moments, he puts his arm on your shoulder and tells you to stand up. “Look at me,” he says. As you do, his eyes — oh, his eyes — are filled with love that’s so real you can see it.

In his presence, you can feel his heart. It seeps into you like you were made to live in it. “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind” (John 1:4).

Think

“I’ve waited for this for a long time,” he says. And as he speaks, the feeling that comes with his voice is familiar. A realization dawns on you. You suddenly understand that his voice is familiar because he has followed you all the days of your life. He prompted you in certain directions as you were making decisions, he awakened your heart to a beautiful sunset, he spoke to you as you read his Word. He has been with you all along.

“Follow me,” he says, as he leads you to a hillside. The kingdom sprawls out before you. It’s a grand, wide-open landscape filled with people — many of whom you recognize and many more whom you don’t. But you sense that they’ll all be your close friends.

You see a mountain in the distance that’s begging to be climbed. “Oh, Jesus, I’ve always loved hiking. Can I go hiking here?” you spill out excitedly. “Yes, you can,” he chuckles. “I’ll even go with you.” Your eyes wander the landscape and you see people bustling around doing all kinds of activities. You’re overwhelmed with excitement and ideas. There’s just too much to do.

Live

During a break in your thoughts, you look to Jesus to see what he’s thinking. All you see is laughter dancing in his magical eyes. “I am so excited for you to see what has always been true,” he says, laughing. “I have always been with you, and I always will be.” He reaches out for your hand, and you excitedly grab his.

“The whole kingdom is yours!” he exclaims with palpable joy. “So let’s go on this great adventure together!”
