Day 5 | Peace
Peace – everybody wants it.
Few have it.
Even fewer know how to find it.
…the kind of peace that’s just being content, knowing that all is well no matter how stormy things appear.
As women, we’re made to feel it’s our responsibility to take care of things, so it’s a true trait of submission when we can be at peace in our spirits even when things seem to be in chaos.
Peace has absolutely nothing to do with circumstances.
My best definition of peace is when you have assurance to carry on in the day and you can sleep soundly through the night while the storm rages all around.
God never goes to bed, you know…
He has it all under His control.
So rest easy.
Be at peace.
Let’s think about peace.
Isaiah 26:3 (tlb) says, “He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord!”
Peace is not the absence of problems, it is the presence of God. Problems are part of life and we’ll always have difficulties. We must not let them rob us of our peace.
Peace is a practiced, learned decision to just sit back…to relax in knowing that God knows you, He knows everything about your life, and He is in absolute control of what’s happening. Peace is relying on the knowledge of God’s love for you and believing that nothing is coming to you that isn’t first passing through His hand.
What seems to cause you to lose your peace?
Do you know a woman who has peace in her life? Watch her. Her physical appearance is even different. She walks taller, sits straighter, has a spring in her voice and a shine in her eyes. She is different. Why?
Because her heart knows who’s really in control.
One of my favorite scriptures is I Corinthians 14:33 (niv), “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.”
If there are things in your life that are causing disorder, they are not from God.
Ask Him to show you the things in your life that are causing disorder and how to eliminate them.
Ask Him how to change your feelings and reactions toward the things over which you have no power.
Ask God to reveal to you through His Word what His definition of peace is for you.
Ask Him to guide your thoughts toward His ability to keep your life in tact instead of your inability to control what’s happening around you.
About this Plan
It's reinforced a million different ways. We overcommit and wear independence like a crown, modeling for those watching us that busy is synonymous with success. Isn't it ironic that what we're called to is complete dependence? This walk through the Fruits of the Spirit reminds us that as we totally submit to God, only then will we be stronger and more beautiful.
